Training and Internship Opportunities

The Voiland School offers excellent research facilities, the flexibility to design an individualized academic program, and the ability to work closly with highly engaged faculty. We also offer students the opportunity to participate in an NIH (National Institutes of Health) sponsored training program in protein Biochemistry, and we encourage students to participate in internship programs at partner institutions. For additional details on these programs please see the following sites:

  • Protein Biotechnology Training Program:The Protein Biotechnology Training Program is sponsored by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. It provides opportunities for chemical engineers to work with fundamental scientists in courses, laboratory rotations, and collaborative research.
  • Pacific Northwest National Laboratory: PNNL is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Battelle Memorial Institute for the U.S. Department of Energy. The Voiland School has arranged opportunities for graduate students to participate in Biomass research and Catalysis research programs at the PNNL.
  • We are working with a variety of industrial concerns to arrange internship opportunities for our graduate students. We view these as educational experiences and anticipate that student projects performed at these sites may or may not be related to the student’s dissertation research. Corporations interested in working with us to devise internship opportunities should contact Jim Petersen
